Profile
Over the course of my degree I spent my time at Sheffield Hallam University finding my own style of working; trying many variations and methods of developing and generating ideas lead me to work with a very hands on approach to design. My process involves a number of steps, which include finding inspirational objects, sketch work, model making, Cad work and prototyping. I always put an emphasis on model making and prototyping in as many different materials as possible because the 3 dimensional and realisation aspect of a project is what I find the most interesting.
A lot of my work offers interaction between the user and the product which I feel is to do with my hands on approach. I believe that today's ever changing society doesn't have enough time to appreciate most things and so I try to capture their attention for a second: not by forcing them to interact but by giving them the opportunity to change the product to benefit their lifestyle.
So far my designs have allowed me to work in many materials using many machining techniques. My final year at Sheffield Hallam saw me working in conjunction with a local sofa manufacturer on my final project. I thoroughly enjoyed developing and establishing a positive working relationship with them and have since been in discussions about future projects.
The next step for me is to find a company which is looking for a young and determined designer, who will allow me to continue my hard work and love for creating new and interesting pieces of design. I'm hopeful that in the near future I will have the opportunity to start my own business and find the success I want.
